"Petal! Dander! Attack! Wait...stop running! The enemy's that way. Attack! Atta...Uh oh." - Warden Ambril, at the exact moment she realised the importance of keeping a well trained pack

Wardens are heavily armoured animal trainers, doing battle alongside a pack of highly trained animals. Never mind that half the pack tends to run off at the first sign of trouble; the other half sticks around. Usually. And besides, that's what the glaive is for: the half-spear, half-shield that wardens wield to deadly effect, whether the pack sticks around or not.

Most wardens manage to inspire stronger loyalty in their mischievous pets by keeping just one or two at a time, and making sure they stay ferociously loyal. Their more rambunctious brethren keep three or more pets around, and take as much pleasure in the chaos they cause running away as they do when the pack responds like a well-oiled machine. Which is pretty much never.

Warden Abilities
Wardens can use the following abilities in battle...
Tame Animal - It's not that easy to convince a wild beast to be your best friend.
Sap Shield - The centre of your glaive can form a protective shield for you and your allies.
Empower Glaive - Your next glaive attack will stun and confuse the enemy it hits.
Swarm Target - Sets all your pets on your current target, confusing and distracting them.

Famous Wardens

Here are some Wardens you may meet in your travels.

Head Warden Patra - Petiole's calm and knowledgeable warden trainer who's legendary for her taming feats and powerful pets. There isn't a single animal within Elevere Forest that she doesn't know all about. If you prove yourself worthy, she'll tell you all about them.

Warden Gipkas - Head Warden Patra's assistant. Where Patra is calm and supportive, Gipkas is harsh and highly-strung. Maybe that's why his pets keep running off.
A Day in the Life
"It was bad enough that the grubs were munching their way right up to the camp. They were big, twisted things that chewed up everything, not like the pets we keep around Petiole. They'd eat anything. I know. They ate my glaive. Would've eaten me if Mossbelly hadn't waded into battle. That bear tore through the grubs like a trough full of moss, and he had a belly full of something else for awhile.

And that was the real problem. He didn't want to fight after that! I mean, I appreciate him saving me and all, but there were about a thousand other grubs descending on us, and he went for a nap! At least Ambril loaned me another glaive. " - Levit, junior warden.
