Say it: grub
Size : 3ft long
Diet : Moss and Leaves Environment : Elevere Forest Intelligence : Low Did You Know : Grub lore speaks of an infernal machine, one that can turn grubs into rugs. Hopefully this contraption is nothing more than a rumour.
'If the forest spirits didn't want us to eat grubs, they wouldn't have made them out of meat!'
- Scout Drenia
 Yummy!
The Canopy Elves rely on these giant grubs as one of their main sources of
food, clothing, etc. Domesticated grubs have been a part of Canopy Elf society for countless years and the annual "grub drive" across the branchways is truly a sight to behold.
Grub farms are a familiar sight around Petiole. They are farmed for their
leather and meat - nothing beats a tasty barbecued grub round. Some grubs
are also kept as family pets and are surprisingly effective watchdogs.
Grubs in the wild are usually a lot more aggressive, making no distinction
between a tasty leaf and a tasty elf. Worst still, wild grubs have been
lately feeding off the magical sap deposits found in the Elevere Forest.
These mutant grubs have exhibited scary powers such as storing up electrical charges, or even fiery breath!
.
Wild grubs are generally considered nuisances to life on the tree. If you
see one grub in your moss farm, rest assured there's roughly a thousand more beneath the bark. However, there are a few breeds of grub that can be a dangerous menace and completely destroy a branch if the elves are not careful.
Elves call regions that are infested with these dangerous types of
grubs "munching grounds" for the noise the grubs make when they eat... and
eat... and eat. The only recourse is to find the source of the grubs,
usually a lair of some kind, and destroy the alpha grub.
