Belchers are distinctive by their ability to project giant balls of flame when they 'burp.' These giant fireballs can be released as a very effective self defense mechanism, but more often than not erupt at regular intervals in order to release magical pressure that builds up from their diet of sap-enriched plants.

Forest Belchers are solitary creatures. Their frequent and violent gastro-intestinal fire belches do not lend themselves to socializing with others of their kind. Which is perfectly fine with them, for Belchers are selfish voracious eaters, often clearing an entire section of the forest in one meal.

Underestimating a Belcher is a very common error among young adventurers in the wild areas outside Petiole. Luckily, the varieties of Belcher in those areas are smaller than those reported in other areas of the forest.

Belchers will only attack when provoked and do not actively hunt the elves of the canopy. They will, however, defend their young with vigour. Their main form of attack is their distinctive flame belch, however a few varieties of Belcher have been known to belch poison clouds or freezing vapour.
