Gross...

This place wasn't always called the Munching Grounds. Before the grubs showed up, it was a sleepy community of canopy elf ranchers who settled a short ways outside of Petiole, using these lands to graze graks and harvest many sought-after types of flowers and berries.

But one night, the elves heard a terrible crash. Upon awakening the next morning, they discovered themselves beset by huge, ugly grubs. Grubs that were EXTREMELY hungry and appeared to have dropped down from above in a massive, slimy pod. How it fell is a mystery for the time being.

The flowers have been drowned out by slime, the grubs are eating all the berries, grass and everything in between, and misplaced packs of snapping daisies are now terrorising the fields. Most of the elves have been forced to move out and leave the chewed remains of their homes behind. There are few ranchers that haven't left yet, and with a bit of help from Petiole, they're doing their best to put up a fight. Though they're beginning to wonder if there will be anything left to fight for soon.

NPCs of the Munching Grounds

These are few of the beleaguered canopy elves you'll meet.

Kemsen
He's a floramancer who's been coming out to this edge of the branch for years to gather rare plants that grow in the flower fields.
Amadrin
He used to own one of the ranches in the area. Now most of his ranch is digesting in a grub belly somewhere. He's trying to get his family ready to move to Petiole.
Leodrim
This old crafter is traveling with the Petiole guard and he knows a thing or two about making great weapons. If you bring him the right wood, he can make it harder than steel, and twice as light!
Falsimabraena the Tranquil
A placid, benign and seemingly-senile woodlouse Forest Spirit. He is thoughtful and mysterious, though it's often hard to follow his train of thought.
Grubs... and other Beasts

Some of the various creatures that want to munch on you.

Grubs
Sticky, smelly, round, blubbery balls of jelly, these large insects love nothing so much as eating the scenery.
Slimes
These piles of grossness appeared shortly after the grubs, they seem to congregate around pools of slime that are dripping down from the grub ridge.
Gorselings
Beware when traveling by thorny patches, these brambly beasts have been known to hide in bushes and wait for unwary travelers.
Snapping Daisies
Unlike the other flowers in the gardens here, these ones bite. They say every young canopy elf makes the mistake of smelling a snapping daisy once, and only once.
